It’s Game Time for Superbowl 44 Saints vs Colts
February 7, 2010 by Rich Webb · Leave a Comment
In the end, it wasn’t the Giants. It wasn’t the Patriots. And it wasn’t the Cowboys either. Instead, the Saints and the Colts will be squaring off against each other in Superbowl 44. It wasn’t always this clear, but for the first time in a while, it’s the two top seed teams for this year’s Superbowl. That’s only happened eight times since 1975 and and not once since 1993 when the Cowboys and the Bills clashed in Georgia.
So can we expect to see an incredible Superbowl Sunday? You better believe it! While it may not be quite the same as the last classic, when the Patriots were taken down by the Giants in the closest Superbowl in history, it should be a really great game. Think Yankees vs. Red Sox, Ohio vs. Michigan and you’ll understand what we can expect in a few weeks.
The question is of course what this will mean. Are these really the top two teams in the NFL or did they just get lucky? Don’t forget that the two teams were the top seeds within their divisions, not necessarily the tops in the NFL.
I’m not going to make predictions about who is going to win in a few weeks, but I will say this: The Saints currently hold the number one scoring position and the highest point differential in professional football. That’s gotta count for something.
Then again, let’s take another look at the Vikings. I have two words for you my friend: Brett Favre. The most career touchdown passes, the most passing yards, the most career pass completions. The list goes on and on. This guy is a superstar of the superstars.
But will one superstar be enough to overcome the dominance of the Saints? Let’s take a look at the other all-American sport, baseball and we may find our answer. A-Rod spent years with the Yanks before he finally played a World Series. He blew it against the Sox, letting them have their first victory in 86 years (in all fairness, it wasn’t just his fault, but his poor production sure didn’t help). So if history is any guide, just having a superstar may not be enough for the win in Superbowl 44. However, it does mean it’s gonna be a really cool game to watch. Grab some beer and get some nachos ready. February 7, 2010 is coming soon. It’s football time!

Ready of not the next biggest football event is coming, The Super Bowl 44 NFL championships. The 44th Super Bowl series will take place at the Landshark Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Since 1997, The Landshark Stadium has already been host to some football events and it included two World Series and four Super Bowls. This is the fifth time that the Stadium will host the Super Bowl and number nine for the Miami area.
The official start of the Super Bowl XLIV will be on February 7, 2010. It will also be shown live via CBS. Due to the event’s popularity, it is always considered almost a US national holiday. Fans usually call it Super Bowl Sunday. This day is considered a family day where they are out enjoying the activities and food in and around the vicinity. The event is almost as well-liked as Thanksgiving Day.
Almost equal to the championship itself, the half time shows are extremely expected as well. A lot of stars have livened up the game by their interval numbers during half-time. Among them are Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Paula Abdul, The Rolling Stones and Tom Petty. For 2010, there are talks that Bon Jovi will perform in the half-time show. However, Bruce Springsteen and his band had voiced out their willingness to do it. But The Who got the slot. They will be the next performers of the Super Bowl half-time.
Since this is one of the major events in 2010, Super Bowl XLIV will certainly make Florida an active state with all the tourists and the fans going to the place just to see live their favorite game. As the chosen hosts, the Tampa Bay area has made a signal that all systems are going for the event. NFL Playoff: Baltimore Ravens vs. New England Patriots
In the Baltimore Ravens vs. New England Patriots game, several things helped New England beat Baltimore 27-21, not the least of which was the Pats’ ever-better defense. The current feeling all week is that defense will determine the result of this game. And it is what comes about. But New England’s underestimated unit and not Baltimore’s much-rated bunch that lived up the biggest when it was needed. Holding on to a six-point lead with only five minutes to go in the match, the Patriots twice got the Ravens on fourth-down attempts, once near midfield and the other in Pats red zone. While the Pats defense had a hard time to stop the Ravens Ray Rice second-year running back on the afternoon with 11 carries for 103 yards, plus a 50-yard gallop, Baltimore decided to throw the ball to Willis McGahee the backup on fourth-and-one from their own 45 at the 5:17 mark. Gary Guyton Linebacker and Brandon McGowan safety joined to stop McGahee just short of the necessary spot.
The last effort came with just thirty seconds remaining. Baltimore had run from their 20-yard line down to New England’s 20. On first down, Joe Flacco quarterback threw a pass into the end zone to Mark Clayton that was too far for his arms. Kelley Washington a former Patriot picked up six yards with a reception on the next play. Flacco’s next pass was secured inside the 10 by the Pats secondary. After, on fourth down, Clayton almost had first down yardage, but the pass went off his body and Patriots defenders tapped it away and the game ended. That is situational football, said Adalius Thomas. Being able to assess the situation and knowing how to respond.

The Patriots defense has now apprehended opponents to 17, 16, 10, and 14 points in four games; this does not include the two Tom Brady turnovers that resulted in opponents’ scores. They continue to look for ways to help the team win, even with injuries and first-year players coping up to the system. The defense is great right now, said Logan Mankins a guard. You can say a lot about the guys since they made a good job. I think a lot of plays were left out there, Thomas added. But we made it. It was not great, but you will have to take it and try to learn from the mistakes and get better. We are all having fun, concluded Meriweather. We are getting used to play as one. We are learning what kind of stuff each player can do. This is the reason why the Patriots have a 3-1 score. This is what the match between Baltimore Ravens vs. New England Patriots is made of.
NFL Playoff: Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals
January 6, 2010 by Rich Webb · 2 Comments
The Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals, every body knows before kickoff that they will meet each other again on the same field in a few days. The Cardinals can only hope this will not be the same as what happened on the previous matchup. Aaron Rodgers, playing mostly against the reserves of Arizona, shredded them in a 33-7 Packers rout on Sunday. Rodgers after playing for three quarters completed 21 of 26 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown. Charles Woodson returned an interception 45 yards adding another score as the Packers (11-5) won seven out of eight games. It was the worst single-sided home loss for Coach Ken Whisenhunt in three seasons with the Cardinals. Arizona (10-6) pulled out Kurt Warner quarterback after only one quarter. Matt Leinart the Backup completed 13 of 21 passes for 96 yards and was intercepted twice.
Most of the first-team defense of Arizona played only one possession. Whisenhunt was cautious of his game plans and did not show much of what he would use next week, while Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy played the Packers’ usual high-powered game. Woodson left late in the first half of the game with a shoulder injury. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Arizona cornerback went out with a bruised left knee and Anquan Boldin wide receiver had a right ankle injury in the game. Before he left, Woodson picked off Leinart’s errant pass and ran down the left sideline and made a dive for the touchdown to make the score 26-0 with 4 1/2 minutes left in the half.
This season, it was already his third interception return for a TD which is a franchise record. He also broke the Packers’ record with eighth defensive touchdown in his career since he joined the team in 2006. He has seven interceptions and one fumble return. He shares the mark with Herb Adderly (1961-69) and Darren Sharper (1997-2004). Woodson made a career best with his ninth pick of the season. He already has 45 in his career. Arizona hardly stayed away from its first shutout loss since the second week of the 2003 season. Ralph Brown made an interception to Matt Flynn’s pass and returned it 80 yards to Cardinals 8. Brian St. Pierre was able to get his first NFL touchdown pass on the next play, a 3-yarder to Larry Fitzgerald, with 2:59 to play. Arizona hoping to get the No. 2 seed ended with the victory of Minnesota over the New York Giants earlier in the day. That guaranteed a matchup between Cardinals-Packers first-round playoff. The only question left was seeding. Who will win the next game between Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals?

NFL Playoff: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys
January 6, 2010 by Rich Webb · Leave a Comment
The Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys will be a great match. The Eagles are at Dallas right now to play with the winner getting the NFC East title and a first-round playoff bye. The loser is going to get a wild-card berth. Last time these two met, The Cowboys scored 10 straight points in the last quarter to get a 20-16 victory at Lincoln Financial Field on November 8. The Eagles were in the lead 13-10 after three quarters, but because of the 33 yard field goal made by Nick Folks and 49 yard touch down pass to Miles Austin by Tony Romo the Cowboys made a rally.
The best-case scenario for the Eagles is to win against the Cowboys to get the NFC East title and gain the No. 2 seed and the additional first-round bye, for the conference playoffs. Nick Cole the new center and a revamped offensive line help Brian Westbrook running back rush for 100 yards for the seasons first time. Donovan McNabb made two touchdown throws passes to tight end Brent Celek. DeSean Jackson made a score on a punt return. The worst-case scenario for the Eagles is if they lose to the Cowboys they will be forced to settle for a wild-card berth in the playoffs. Cowboys DeMarcus Ware linebacker sacks McNabb three times. Romo made three throws for touchdown passes to Austin. Cowboys Marion Barber and Felix Jones both running backs each rushed for 100 yards. Eagles David Akers place-kicker missed two field goals.
The Eagles are coming off a well-brought-up effort against Denver. Cole will start at center replacing Jamaal Jackson, who last week experienced a season-ending knee injury. Max Jean-Gilles will replace Cole to start at right guard. Jackson was given the job to the Pro Bowl as both a wide receiver and kick returner. McNabb has played well over all for the year but also had some inconsistency. Celek is outstanding and Akers is having a great seasons.

For the Cowboys, Romo has been having a very high level of playing for most of the season. Austin and Witten are moving to the Pro Bowl and so are Leonard Davis guard and Andre Gurode center. Jones, Barber and Tashard Choice are all top backs. The Cowboys have not been productive the past games. They have scored only 24 points or less after their last eight games. Shaun Suisham has substituted for Folk as the place-kicker. This Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys match will be a very interesting one.
Gator Agility And Foot Quickness Training
October 10, 2009 by Sherry Ingram · Leave a Comment
Agility can be defined as the skill to move well in a variety of directions (example: front, back, lateral, etc.) as well as the change of directions is performed in a fast motion while using a blend of movements (examples: front to back, side to side, etc.). Quickness can be defined as the ability to move the feet swiftly in a variety of patterns.
Drill number 1 is the Four Cone Square Drill. The athlete starts by back pedaling from the first cone to the second, side shuffling from the second cone to the third, sprinting forward from the third to the fourth, and then side shuffling from the fourth cone back past the first. Drill 2 is the Three Cone Wheel Drill. The athlete starts by running to the first cone and then wheeling around it on the right hand, then sprints to the second cone and wheels around it on the left hand, then sprints forward to the five yard mark, and finishes by backpedaling across the starting line.
Exercises for Defensive Backs

Focus on multi-joint movements that really work a number of muscles simultaneously. Squats, deadlifts, dips, and flat & incline bench press, standing military press, cleans & pullups, etc. You also want to integrate some sport-specific moves and work in some functional training too. For this stage of workouts, break them up into 3-day splits; so aside from other cross-training type workouts, you in essence have three “rest” days from resistance training. Since we’re going first and foremost for strength and speed in this cycle, you want to keep the weight and reps reasonable (around 6-10 or so).
It’s always important to focus on absolute perfect form to reduce the risk of injury. Focus on lifting the bar swiftly, but lowering the bar gradually. For example, on a squat, use a volatile shove to get the weight up, but lower under control. And no matter what the movement, your body is not spring boards so don’t bounce the weight.
Developing Speed-Strength For Football
October 10, 2009 by Sherry Ingram · Leave a Comment
After a warm up, place fifty percent of your max on the bar. Have a friend time you in 5 reps to the nearest 0.1 of a second (hundredths are overkill with this method). Be certain and achieve the reps as fast as possible – this is key. Insert 1 second to the time – that is your time limit for subsequent sets. After resting for about two minutes, add 10 to 20 pounds to the bar (about 7.5 percent of your max) and do a second set for 5 reps as fast as possible and time it. As long as you did all five in fewer than 7.5 seconds, rest 2 minutes, add 10 to 20 pounds and do a third set. Once more, do all sets as quick as possible for 5 reps. Keep repeating this pattern until you can no longer complete 5 reps in 7.5 seconds. Be careful here. 7.5 seconds can be an example. If you finish your initial 5 reps with 50% in 6.2 seconds, then your time limit for that day is 7.2 seconds.
Each speed day is diverse than the last because each day has a different test speed and time limit. This accommodates how you are feeling that particular day.
Peak Performance Training and Nutrition
October 10, 2009 by Sherry Ingram · Leave a Comment
Physical training for football is based on the specific position played and its associated trait requirements which are acceleration, speed, strength and power. Increases in body mass may be useful for some players but are disadvantageous for others based on changes in speed and agility.
Nutritional concerns and necessities of football players must be taken into consideration with the unique physical attributes and performance requirements of the different position groups. In addition, if changes in body weight and composition are desired to maximize performance, the player’s diet will absolutely be affected. For instance, if a lineman needs to add weight, consisting primarily of muscle mass, during the off-season he will need to consume a calorie intake greater than his energy requirement. Receivers and defensive backs may be more prone to limit their energy intake during the off-season to promote weight/fat loss.
What is the Length and Width of a Football
October 3, 2009 by Sherry Ingram · Leave a Comment
The NCAA, NFL, and high schools use footballs that are 11 to 11.25 inches long, 28 to 28.5 inches around lengthwise, 21 to 21.25 inches around widthwise. These balls are inflated to 12.5 to 13.5 pounds. A football is a ball used to play one of the various sports known as American football. In the distant past, simple balls such as inflated pigs’ bladders were used, but balls are now premeditated by teams of engineers to thorough specifications.
According to NFL.com: The home team shall have 36 balls for open-air games and 24 for covered games available for testing with a pressure gauge by the referee two hours prior to the starting time of the game to meet with League requirements. Twelve (12) new footballs, preserved in a special box and shipped by the maker, will be opened in the officials’ locker room two hours before the starting time of the game. These 11 by 21 balls are to be specially marked with the letter “K” and used exclusively for the kicking game.
Michael Vick Will Be Free Again
July 20, 2009 by Sherry Ingram · Leave a Comment
Michael Vick will be back in action to his NFL career after being in federal custody for 20 months due to his dog fighting operation. By Monday, he will be free, this came from the Federal Bureau of Prison. This will mean a meeting with Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL. It is not clear yet if he can play specially now that he is released by the Falcons since June. Goodell stated that Michael made a very wrong thing and that he has paid dearly for it. This is what he said to the Associated Press last April. Another thing is that people are forgiven when they show regret and are willing to live a better life. This is what Michael has to prove to everybody.
Vick was denied by Hudson, the U.S. District Judge since he didn’t show remorse of what he had made. He was even denied the acceptance of responsibility to lower his sentence. His sentence was imprisonment of 23 months. Under the federal law, he must serve a minimum sentence of 85 percent. After 18 months in the federal penitentiary he was transferred to home confinement. Vick was the highest paid athlete in NFL before and now he took a construction job for $10 an hour for several weeks. He was transferred to another job helping in the Boys and Girls club fitness program. For three years he will still be on probation.
Getting Superbowl Tickets
January 24, 2009 by Sherry Ingram · Leave a Comment

Here are some Superbowl quick facts:
- The 10 most watched television programs of all time are Superbowls
- There are a projected 1 billion world-wide viewers
- The sales of soda, beers, and cheeps see a significant rise right before the Superbowl
- 1.5 million tv sets will be sold around the week before Superbowl
These facts alone are enough to tell you that the Superbowl is one of the biggest events of the year. If in case you are still looking for tickets now, then you are in deep trouble my friend, as the odds of you getting a ticket is very slim. Still, you mustn’t lose hope because there are still a number of ways in which you can obtain a ticket.
One way would be to seek the help of a ticket agency. They would be able to find out if there are any more tickets. It might be a bit more expensive coming from them, but it’s Superbowl tickets we are talking about, at such last minute circumstances.
Another way, is through scalpers. Though I would not advise getting from them, this would be a way to get tickets on the day itself. The problem with this is that they’d sell you tickets 3 – 4 times its original price, and it’s likely that you’d get painfully bad seats.
Most Superbowl Wins
January 23, 2009 by Sherry Ingram · Leave a Comment

It’s time for the Superbowl again, and another exciting game, paired with an entertaining half-time show is just around the corner. This Superbowl is particularly exciting because this is truly another historic moment in the making.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the most solid organizations since the 1970s. They have one two back-to-back championships, and another one back in 2005. If ever they win this next Superbowl, it will be their 6th and they will be the only team to have ever done that.
What are the odds of them winning? They have big odds of winning. A lot of analysts say that this team has the best defensive muscle since the 1970s. Their quarterback was part of their Superbowl Championship team back in 2005, and they seem to have the right momentum.
You could also take a look at their opponents when thinking about their odds of winning. This will be the first time ever that the Arizona Cardinals have ever entered a Superbowl. The whole franchise has been really shaky since the birth of the NFL, and their defense is simply abysmal.
So if you think about it, the Steelers really have a high chance of making history, and winning the number 6. It will indeed be a sweet victory, but you can count on Arizona giving a very tough fight.
