January 28, 2010 by Rich Webb

This is the story behind the Super Bowl 44 Celebrity Fishing Classic. Last February 28, 2009, on a sunny morning, four young friends, all athletes, joined together by their love of football, fishing and boating. They sailed out to have a happy day at sea. But after a few miles off the coast of Clearwater, Florida, their fishing trip turned into a tragedy. The 2010 South Florida Super Celebrity Fishing Classic will honor Marquis Cooper, William Bleakley, Corey Smith and survivor, Nick Schuyler.

On February 1st, 2010, all through the week of Super Bowl XLIV, the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee will organize a banquet, video, auction and tribute to these athletes at the International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame in Dania Beach, Florida.
