Freeman Leads Bucs to Victory

November 9, 2009 by Sherry Ingram

Josh FreemanRookie Josh Freeman is wearing one of those jerseys that serve as a reminder of Tampa Bay’s past.  But he gave the Buccaneers a lot of reasons to be confident of the future.   A late rally led the Buccaneers to their first ever victory of the season last Sunday.  This is what happened.  The third quarterback selected this year in the NFL draft led the previously winless Bucs to a 38-28 victory over the Green Bay Packers in his first start Sunday.

It stopped the league’s longest slump to 11 games.  Playing with poise that contradicted his inexperience, Freeman made a pass for 205 yards and three touchdowns this including a 7-yard throw to Sammie Stroughter on fourth-and-4 for the go-ahead TD with less than 5 minutes to play.  Freeman said that he felt really relaxed.  He is the 17th pick in the draft and the third quarterback taken after Mark Sanchez and Matthew Staffor.
